Elegoo Neptune 4 vs Neptune 4 Pro

Last Updated: November 27th, 2023

The Neptune 4 is the newest FDM printer series from Elegoo that runs on Klipper, bringing input shaping and pressure advance.

Overall, we recommend the regular Neptune 4 until positive feedback on the Neptune 4 Pro's metal linear rails and segmented heat bed rolls in. The price difference will save you a bit of money that you can spend on filament rolls.

The Elegoo Neptune 4, Sovol SV06/SV07, and the Anycubic Kobra 2 are the cheap entrance into FDM printing. Prusa, Bambu, and Qidi FDM printers are more expensive but bring additional features and reliability.

Elegoo Neptune 4 and Neptune 4 Pro

  • Both the Neptune 4 and Neptune 4 Pro use Klipper that supports input shaping and pressure advance.
  • Both printers have an all-metal hotend that can print filaments up to 300°C.
  • Both printers use a PEI coated spring steel sheet as the print surface.
  • Both printers come with a touch screen control interface and LEDs.

Final Thoughts

Between the two printers, we will need to see more feedback on the segmented bed and metal linear rail. It can take months for issues to pop up on forums.

The Klipper with the Neptune 4 and 4 Pro is a huge improvement over previous models, and these are a direct competitor to the SV06 and SV07.

These cheaper FDM printers are an excellent choice if you are dipping your toes into 3D printing and are not sure what you are looking for. Bambu and Prusa printers will be more reliable at a higher cost, but these do not provide the best bang for buck.
