Sovol SV07 vs Sovol SV06

Last Updated: July 2nd, 2023

The Sovol SV07 introduces Klipper firmware onto what essentially is the SV06. It double to triples the potential print speed and brings along a few upgrades.

Overall, we still recommend the SV06 for most users. It is best bang for buck for getting into high-temperature materials.

The SV07 is ideal if you are limited in workspace and desire the extra print speed for prototyping. Otherwise, it could make sense to have multiple SV06s to achieve a similar build rate.

Sovol SV07 and SV06

  • The main attraction of the Sovol SV06 or SV07 platform is the direct drive extruder with an all-metal hotend for printing high-temperature filament (up to 300°C).
  • What filaments can they print at 300°C? PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PP, Nylon and flexibles like TPU. However, there have been some reports that the SV06 struggles with flexible filament.
  • The SV06 and the SV06 both have a dual z-axis.
  • Both printers use a PEI coated spring steel sheet as the print surface.
  • Both printers use an induction probe for auto-leveling.
  • Both printers can be connected locally via microSD Card and networked over USB.

Sovol SV07

  • The Sovol SV07 comes with a build volume of 220x220x250 mm, which is the same as the SV06.
  • The Sovol SV07 runs on Klipper, which can double to triple the potential print speed.
  • The SV07 comes with a filament runout sensor.
  • A LED light and tool drawer are two bonuses on the SV07.

Final Thoughts

The deciding factor for most users will be the print speed.

If this is your first printer and you are on a budget, the SV06 will be a perfectly fine choice.

The SV07 would make sense if you want to have the higher print speeds of a Prusa MK4S or Bambu printer without splashing $700-1,500 on a printer.

Both of these are cheaper options to a Prusa MK4 or a Qidi X-Plus for printing high-temperature materials.
