Our carbon has less dust than other wood or coal-based carbon, but it will have slightly more dust than acid-washed coconut carbon.
Our coconut shell carbon is not acid-washed, as residual acid can corrode metal on your 3D printer.
Acid-washed coconut carbon ash content: <3-5%
Non-acid washed coconut carbon ash content: <5%
Coal-based carbon ash content: ~8-15%
We use glass jars for improved durability, sustainability, and to ensure the vacuum seal. These glass jars can be cleaned and reused for any of your household needs!
The activated carbon should be replaced every 3 months. For higher-load applications, the carbon should be replaced upon the reemergence of odors.
In large quantities spent carbon is typically reactivated as part of a recycling process, and it can be beneficial for yards (google biochar). However, since your spent carbon will contain toxins it is recommended to dispose of it. We may launch a recycling program in the future.
Volatile Organic Chemicals are gaseous compounds under standard atmosphere that are generally toxic in high concentrations.
We use coconut shell carbon instead of coal in order to minimize both the ash content and the environmental footprint.
It is recommended to keep humidity below 70% as excessive humidity can decrease the efficiency of activated carbon.
