Bambu (Not Bamboo) 3D Printers

Last Updated: August 13th, 2023

The introduction of the Bambu Lab 3D printers has ushered in a boom of much needed competition and improved features.

Both the P1P and X1-Carbon are assembled printers that increase the accessibility of 3D printing to the general public, but they are by no means perfect. We have a pretty objective analysis of Prusa vs Bambu.

The P1P is perfect for casual users, print farms, and those using basic materials like PLA. The X1-Carbon is ideal for an enthusiast, especially one that likes using higher-end materials like ASA, Nylon, or Polycarbonate.

Bambu P1P, P1S, and X1-Carbon

  • What filaments can they print up to 300°C? They can print most materials, including nylons, flexibles, polycarbonate, and carbon fiber blends.
  • The P1P and X1-Carbon can both be equipped with the AMS (Automatic Material System), which is ideal for printing in multiple colors or with soluble supports. The AMS is not a dedicated multi-material unit, especially since it has issues with flexibles, carbon fiber, and other infused filament. It also produces quite a lot of waste.
  • The P1P and X1-Carbon are able to print decent quality at very high speeds.
  • Both printers come with magnetic PEI steel sheets for the print surface.
  • Both printers come with automatic bed leveling.
  • Both printers come with a chamber camera and LED light bar.
  • The Bambu Lab printers are made in China. The customer service and printer repair occurs in Austin, Texas office space.

Bambu P1P

  • The Bambu P1P is stripped down of features and higher-end components to account for the lower cost.
  • The Bambu P1P auto levels with a touch probe only.
  • The Bambu P1P will be perfectly fine for printing basic filaments like PLA and PETG with high quality and speed.
