3M 60921 & 60926 Respirator for Resin 3D Printing

Respirators are a must-have for resin 3D printing and thankfully 3M has affordable facepieces and cartridges. Also, these respirators will work with FDM printers.

You will need to get organic vapor cartridges like the 60921 or 60926. These are combination cartridges that have a P100 filter for particulates and a layer of activated carbon for VOCs.

The 60926 cartridge gives the widest range of protection for resin 3D printing; however, it is not always available and is more expensive, so the 60921 is a good alternative.

If you are post-processing resin prints often, we recommend considering if a supplied air respirator is right for you.

The 60921 & 60926 Cartridge Lifespan

The cartridges should be replaced immediately if resin fumes or IPA are detected. 3M recommends that in an oil aerosol environment, the cartridge should be replaced after 40 hours of use or 30 days, whichever is first.

According to 3M, the cartridge's carbon will begin to fail after approximately 60 hours of exposure to a 1 mg/m3 concentration of IPA and 40 hours for 10 mg/m3.
